MOJ Clinical & Medical Case Reports NO2 Mediates the Heart Protection of Remote Ischemic Preconditioning

Remote ischemic preconditioning (RIPC) is a technique where the application of short, repetitive limb intervals of ischemia and reperfusion would result in the condition of the heart as well as other organs to tolerate the ischemic reperfusion injury. Many research groups are interested in investigating the mediators, through which this technique works. Many mediators have been suggested to mediate the protective actions of RIPC. In this manuscript, the author represents his personal viewpoint regarding a possible mechanism of action of this technique, based on recent published findings, which confirm the ability of the technique to play an important role in the clinical practice of heart transplantation.
